MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was killed after being involved in a hit-and-run on Jackson Avenue Wednesday night.

According to Memphis Police, officers responded to a hit-and-run accident in the area of Jackson Avenue and Orchi Road a little before 11 p.m.

A dark-colored pickup truck traveling westbound on Jackson was caught on camera hitting a pedestrian walking across the street.

The driver didn’t stop, instead continued westbound toward Townes Avenue.

Police say the victim was found and taken to Regional One, where he was later pronounced dead.

While it is uncertain if the driver was speeding, residents like Terry Bradshaw say drivers fly over the hill and the sudden appearance of the traffic light often catches them off guard.

“Coming down the hill coming so fast the light will change when you get right here you try to beat it the light turns green and yeah it’s been plenty of wrecks right here man,” Bradshaw said.

So far no arrests have been made but police say the vehicle will have a lot of front-end damage.

MPD says this remains an ongoing investigation.
