MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Drivers are experiencing long delays on I-40 and I-55 heading toward Memphis due to residual eclipse traffic, ARDOT said.

In a post on X by the Arkansas Department of Transportation, they say that there are no wrecks and ask drivers to “be patient”.

A WREG reporter who is caught in the traffic told WREG that despite being only 16 miles away from the station, her GPS says it will take her an hour and a half to arrive.

The reporter added that things began to slow down around Forrest City, Ark., and got progressively heavier as they drove further down the highway.

Further complicating matters is that law enforcement is blocking exits to get to surface streets in Memphis and the I-55 bridge is down to one lane.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
