Memphis-Shelby County Schools taps Varsity Spirit, FedEx vet for general counsel's office
Nearly two months into her tenure as superintendent, Marie Feagins, Ed.D., has made her first major hire. Memphis-Shelby County Schools has tapped Justin Bailey to head the office of general counsel. A veteran of both Varsity Spirit and FedEx, he replaces longtime Memphis attorney Odell Horton Jr., who stepped into the role in September 2023.

MSCS summer program to offer students free meals
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) will provide free meals to students throughout the summer at about 100 sites across the city and county. The MSCS Nutrition Services Summer Meal Program will serve students who are 18 years old or younger. Those older than 18 who are disabled and enrolled in a school program are also welcomed.
