Effects of months-old ID theft continue to haunt Thurston County woman
Olympia, wash. - Months after becoming the victim of ID theft, Julie McReynolds is still living a bad dream. "The first couple weeks was definitely a nightmare," she said. We first talked to her in February after the Thurston County Sheriff's Office said a woman had stolen her identity, using it to create a fake ID, in order to go on a three-day shopping spree at stores where McReynolds had accounts. McReynolds believes the alleged thief was able to do this through the "store lookup" option.
Off-duty guard charged with killing Seattle-area teen after mistaking toy for gun, authorities say
SEATTLE (AP) — An off-duty security guard in a Seattle suburb has been charged with second-degree murder by prosecutors who said that he fatally shot a 17-year-old six times in the back as the teen and his friends tried to return a toy gun that the guard believed was a firearm to a sporting goods store. King County prosecutors charged Aaron Brown Myers on Monday in the death of Hazrat Ali Rohani outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods Store in Renton, Washington. Myers, 51, also faces a second-degree assault charge after authorities say he held another teen at gunpoint. ...
Costco recalls Tillamook cheese products due to plastic contamination
SEATTLE - Check your refrigerator. Costco has issued a recall for Tillamook cheese products after plastic was found in some of its packs. In a letter to Costco members, the Issaquah-based wholesaler said they are recalling the 32 oz. twin-pack package of Tillamook Colby Jack and Tillamook Monterey Jack cheese slices (item No. 651195) that were sold between May 9-31, 2024. The packs have a "Best if Used By" date of Oct. 22, 2024.
