New taproom opening in the City of Lockport
LOCKPORT, N.Y. — The historic Lock District in the City of Lockport will soon host a new taproom and carryout bottle shop. The Lock Tender will take 1,300 square feet of ground floor commercial space at 4 Lock St., part of a multi-use development that includes three upper apartments and two storefronts on the main level. There will be a 12-seat bar and indoor seating for about 100 as well as outdoor space for corn hole and live music. With no plans for a full kitchen, the group plans to work with local partners for food offerings.
4 WNY breweries expanding with new locations
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Resurgence Brewing's plan to open a second site at Canalside this summer follows a growing trend of breweries expanding locally and statewide. Resurgence, based at 55 Ohio St., is taking over the former Clinton’s Dish location, where it will offer food and beverages at a waterfront beer garden space.
Niagara Arts Guild announces winners
The Niagara Arts Guild awarded ribbons at Saturday’s opening to the member works of art on exhibit at the Niagara History Center, 215 Niagara St., Lockport. Judged by artist Jeannette Pikturna, graduate in fine art from the University of Illinois, the Best of Show chosen was Phil Eaton for his painting “Solar Flare.” The first place for water color was earned by Manning McCandlish for her work “Rock & Trees If You Please,” which also won viewer’s choice; and for oil & acrylic, Rhonda Daigler’s “Radiant Daybreak.” A first place in photography was earned by Maggie Eaton for the large photo “Flag Day”; and first place in all others by Peggy Taylor, with a wood carving titled “Happiness.”
