Possible Aurora Viewing Chances for NCWV before Rain Returns Tomorrow
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - The strongest geomagnetic storm since 2005 has occurred that could lead to the chance to see the Northern Lights in NCWV. The best chance for viewing will be away from light pollution, where skies are clear to the north. Most likely we will only be able to view the aurora on the horizon, but a quick drive up into the mountains of Pennsylvania could lead to better chances for viewing. Peak viewing time will be between 2-5am Saturday. Despite rain showers and cloud cover lingering today. We are expecting to see cloud coverage clear overnight and for the morning before rain showers and thunderstorms return tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures remain cool throughout the weekend, but we will see high pressure return and lead to dry and clearing conditions for Mother’s Day. Temperatures warm back up next week. Michael Moranelli has more details in your First Alert Forecast.
Non-severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Off and on rain showers are expected throughout today causing us to start to see lower temps throughout the weekend. A cold front is starting to make its way through NCWV causing thunderstorms and heavier rain showers on Saturday. Highs in NCWV will be in the low to mid 60s and lows in the 40s until Sunday where we will start to warm back up into the high 60s as high pressure once again enters the area. With that high pressure, expect partly cloudy skies throughout most of the day on Sunday and continuing into Monday, with the exception of a few scattered rain showers early Sunday morning. Daniel Niemasz has all of this and more in your First Alert Forecast.
