Club West Brewing distribution facility sells to prominent Charlotte developer

An entity tied to Club West, the rebranded Sycamore , has sold the brewery's offices and production facility near Camp North End to a prominent Charlotte developer for $6.65 million. Why it matters: While Club West Brewing's taproom has been consistently packed since the Sycamore scandal, the brewery previously acknowledged the distribution business wasn't rebounding the same way. The latest: West Twenty Fourth LLC, an LLC tied to Sycamore's co-founder Sarah Taylor, sold the building to Summit Avenue West 24th, an LLC tied to Matthew Browder, owner at Browder Brown real estate firm, on Nov. 4, property records show. West Twenty Fourth LLC previously bought the building for $5.2 million in 2024. Flashback: CBJ reported in 2017 that Sycamore was investing $2.5 million in building out the North End facility. It would grow its beer production by 16 times, with enough capacity to produce up to 80,000 barrels a year, the report stated. The lease between Club West and West Twenty Fourth LLC was terminated the same day as the sale, records show. The big picture: Browder for years has been assembling more than 30 acres of land in the surrounding area, including the Starbucks down the street and 9-plus

Pertinacious Coffee is opening a cafe near Park Road Shopping Center

Pertinacious, a local speciality coffee brand that started with a mobile cart, is opening its first standalone shop in Montford. Why it matters: The expansion marks a major milestone for 23-year-old founder Emma Layman, who has built a loyal following by sharing the behind-the-scenes reality of running her small business on social media. Driving the news: Pertinacious is aiming to open in mid-January 2027 inside Centro Montford, a new apartment development near Park Road Shopping Center. A rendering of what the Montford Cafe will look like (it's currently under construction). Rendering: Courtesy of Emma Layman Catch up quick: Layman started Pertinacious with a coffee cart in 2024 and later expanded to The Club , a fitness and coworking space in South End. She told Axios in September that monthly sales had grown from $8,363 to $29,156 in one year. Pertinacious will continue operating its cafe inside The Club after the Montford storefront opens. What to expect: The roughly 700-square-foot shop will have a handful of indoor tables and an outdoor patio. The menu will feature all the specialty coffees customers already love, including the blueberry vanilla latte, which Layman says has sold more than 6,000. The new cafe will also

450 new homes are proposed around Rock Hill, Fort Mill & Lake Wylie: What to know

Rock Hill, Fort Mill and Lake Wylie have more homes proposed. So do Clover and Lancaster. They range from typical subdivisions to lakefront living beside a nuclear station . Here’s a look at plans for 450 new homes and townhomes pitched across the Rock Hill region. Details are still pending on a 309-home subdivision proposal in Lancaster County. Homebuilder True Homes applied to build in the Edgewater community on 106 acres with a project called The Pinery East . The site is off Monterrico Drive and Antela Lane. County planners deferred a decision for a month on Sept. 15 due to traffic and related concerns, but didn’t reschedule last month. This month’s planning commission agenda for Nov. 17 hasn’t been published. A company called PLJS Property applied to build a 66-home subdivision on 98 acres west of Clover. Fieldstone Meadow would go on S.C. 55 just outside town limits, near Lester Road. Home lots would be an acre or more each. Four new internal roads off the main highway would serve the subdivision. More than 5 acres in Fort Mill is up for rezoning to allow a new 34-unit townhome development . The site is on Pleasant Road, across from
