SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - A man who pointed a gun at a Sikeston officer in March has been sentenced to 14 years in prison. According to a release from U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri Sayler Fleming, a judge sentenced Ruben R. Ramirez, 27, of Sikeston on Thursday, November 30.

Four people, including three children, were hurt yesterday morning when the vehicle they were in ran off Highway 80 west of East Prairie and struck a tree. The MSHP reports the driver, 27 year old Christine Duck and the three children – ages 1, 3, and 6 – were all from Matthews. They received minor injuries and were taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

Among the weekend arrests by the MSHP was 70 year old Roger Carnell of Poplar Bluff. He was arrested Saturday in New Madrid County for a felony warrant out of Mississippi County for possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Mississippi County Jail.
