Racial slur hurled at ESPN's Mina Kimes once again puts Boston racism in spotlight
It is tiring to see the ignorance, stupidity, and racism persisting in our society. It does not rest and comes at us from all corners. Recently, a Boston sports talk radio host made a racist remark about ESPN's Mina Kimes during a segment on WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show." The co-hosts were discussing their "top five nips," which are small liquor bottles, when the producer, Chris Curtis, interjected with a guttural slur directed at Kimes, who is of Korean descent. The comment was supposed to be a joke, but it was blatantly racist and offensive.

In putting together this team, it was quickly obvious that the Red Sox have had more than their share of great ballplayers. I listened to Hawk Harrelson rave about Carl Yastrzemski for years. Hawk made Yaz sound like an almost mythical character. Well, he wasn’t mythical but he was truly great. He’d be the captain of this team.

All Boston Red Sox from 1965 Forward, Pitchers
Red Sox fans have had the good fortune to see not only some of the best pitchers in baseball but also, some of the most colorful. I have to admit, I’m not a Roger Clemens fan, but when I started to make this list, I thought he’d be the number one starter. After looking at the stats, I gave the number one slot to Martinez. Various pitchers of note didn’t make the cut. Curt Schilling had one great season and a memorable world series, but he didn’t make the rotation. Also, a quick acknowledgment to some other stalwart Sox starters. That group includes Jim Lonborg, Bill Wakefield, and Oil Can Boyd. Chris Sale would be fairly high on this list if he hadn’t been plagued by arm issues. His future is sketchy at best. Okay, here’s the list.
