UIL realignment shakes up outlook for West Texas 4A football in 2026
Of all the West Texas high school football classifications, 4A saw the most shakeup after UIL’s reclassification and realignment . Longtime Region I powerhouse Brownwood was placed in a Region IV district with a host of Waco-area teams after the Lions dropped down from Division I to Division II. Big Spring, after a big drop in enrollment, also fell down a division and will play in a far West Texas district with Fort Stockton, Monahans, Snyder, Pecos and Seminole.
