Authorities said the threat was called in to the police station.

Marblehead High School was placed on a ‘hold’ on Monday afternoon after a threat was called into police, authorities said.

Marblehead police said just before 2 p.m. that the call reporting an “active threat” at the school was called into the station, prompting officers to respond to the campus to investigate and make the scene safe.

School officials told Boston 25 News the caller told authorities they had a gun inside the high school but there were no reports of any weapons found after officers swept the building.

During the hold at the school, police asked the public to stay away and said access would be temporarily denied.

Police said just before 3 p.m. that the school had been cleared for regular operations.
