Oro Valley mayor urges no pond within Vistoso Preserve
An iconic pond along Vistoso Highlands Drive is empty and it is going to remain that way. In its place, at the urging of Mayor Joe Winfield, the town of Oro Valley intends to spend $950,000 to begin creating a desert garden on the 2.5-acre site that once stored reclaimed water to irrigate the Golf Club at Vistoso.
New, larger structure for Steam Pump market shade
Oro Valley is about to spend up to $579,000 to purchase and install a 26-by-180-foot shade structure at Steam Pump Ranch. The new steel structure, intended to protect vendors and guests at the Saturday farmers market and to keep summer campers cool, would replace three 12-by-50-foot wood structures that were smashed the night of July 21 by a motorist in a white pickup truck. The heavily damaged shelter became unusable, was identified as a safety hazard and was removed.

Murder suspect captured in Oro Valley
TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A murder suspect from Colorado was arrested in Oro Valley late Tuesday, April 16. The Oro Valley Police Department said 51-year-old Francisco Ivan Romero was pulled over for a traffic stop. The officers ran Romero’s name and found out he was wanted on a murder charge in Denver.
Marana begins construction on Loop extension
TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A new addition will be coming to the Chuck Huckelberry Loop in Marana, giving thousands of people access to the trail. This project has been in the works for years and is now coming to fruition. It will connect at Avra Valley Road while adding about two miles to the loop.
