Mighty Fine! Coffee Co. preserves town history at new drive-thru coffee location
It might have been cheaper and easier to tear down the old building standing on the corner of Second Avenue and 14th Street, but Jordan Brennan, an owner of Mighty Fine! Coffee Co. said they wanted to revitalize it and protect the town’s history. A brick pink house stood next to it and was torn down before the coffee shop took over, its now naming a pink drink after its owner, Bernadette. “We just wanted to keep as much as we could and preserve Faribault’s history,” he said. “The floor needed to be completely redone and leveled off, none of the walls were the same. This building was built in a different era so we had to find a lot of solutions to get this to work.” He and fellow owner Nathaniel Cunningham are looking to expand from its wholesale production roastery into cafes with its first drive-thru location planned to open some time next month. The sign outside the drive-thru has stood there for over 60 years, and it will continue on under its new ownership. The Faribault City Council voted to approve a variance allowing Mighty Fine to continue to operate the sign as it is, but now

Grapeful Wine Bar introduces whiskey offerings to expanded menu
Grapeful Wine Bar rolled out a major change last week, expanding beyond beer and wine to serve spirits for the first time. The local establishment is now serving whiskey flights, and offering a signature cocktail in collaboration with an area distillery. Owner Stacy Hanson said wine will always remain her main focus at Grapeful, but she wanted to make sure she was offering “something for everyone.” “Couples and friend groups often come in and they have split drink preferences, so adding high quality whiskey flights and a signature cocktail ensures that our non-wine drinkers feel equally catered to,” Hanson said. Grapeful’s current menu features an eight-year-old Tennessee high-rye whiskey, small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon and a unique bourbon that was aged aboard sea-faring ships, which patrons can try independently or as a flight. Like her seasonal wine selections, Hanson plans to refresh her whiskey offerings every four months. The one whiskey that won’t leave the menu is a single barrel bourbon from 10,000 Drops Craft Distillers, of Faribault. Hanson said the distiller welcomed her staff into its facility, even teaching them how to make an old fashioned to its specifications. The 10,000 Drops’ signature Old Fashioned will also be a regular
