    Police: Man arrested for shooting, killing man inside car in Manassas

    MANASSAS, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Prince William County Police Department said a man involved in a fatal shooting in Manassas has been arrested and charged.

    Officers responded to the 12000 block of Cadet Ct. on May 23 at around 2:40 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. There, they found two men who had been sleeping in a car. One man was shot and killed but the other man was not hurt.

    While investigating, police found out that a verbal fight had broken out between the victim and the suspect near the car during the evening of May 22. That prompted the suspect to shoot into the car at the victim multiple times a short while later on May 23. .

    Police said the suspect then removed evidence from the scene before police arrived.

    During the investigation, searched a storage unit that the suspect was renting and found two guns, but neither of the guns seemed to have been used in the shooting.

    Police were able to connect the suspect to the murder and obtained arrest warrants. He was identified as 26-year-old Tavaris Maleek Eberhardt.

    He was charged with murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence.

    He was being held without bond.

    The man who died was identified as 30-year-old Carlos Marcell Moore of Manassas.
