6 men arrested during 2-day human trafficking investigation in Carbondale
SOUTHERN Ill. (KFVS) - Six men were arrested during a two-day human trafficking investigation in Carbondale. Marlin Kellum, 28, of Murphysboro; Charles Kemp, 46, of West Frankfort; Kyler McGee, 23, of Anna; Justin Phoenix, 29, of Shiloh; Scott Strudwick, 35, of Murphysboro; and Robert Wilson, 32, of Carbondale were arrested on charges of solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a child and solicitation to meet a child.
SIU women’s basketball signs a local graduate transfer
The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team has added a veteran presence to its locker room, as it has signed graduate transfer Jeniah Thompson. Thompson, who is from Carterville, initially came to Southern Illinois her freshman year, but then went to John A. College. There, the 5-foot-9 guard averaged 23.2 points and 11.9 rebounds-per-game, and was a NJCAA Third Team All-American in 2021-22.

Vienna-Goreville names new football coach
VIENNA, Ill. (KFVS) - Vienna High School has named the new football coach for Vienna-Goreville. According to Vienna High School, Dilynn Roper has played football for the Vienna-Goreville program and has been on the VG coaching staff since 2020. Coach Roper also serves as the coordinator of football for the Johnson County Youth League program. He holds a bachelor of science in sports administration from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
