Coyotes put away upset-minded Selma
Madera’s Brianah Hamilton connects on a first inning home run for her school record-extending 19th homer of her career in Friday’s win over Selma. The 12th seeded Selma Bears advanced to the Div. II softball Central Section semifinals after an upset win in the first round, but the Madera Coyotes put away any thoughts of another upset by scoring in the first five innings for a dominant 8-1 victory.
Smith becomes fourth different Pro Late Model winner

Jacob Smith earned his first career MAVTV-televised Lunkerdaddy Pro Late Model Series victory, and became the fourth different winner of the 2023 season at Madera Speedway.

Stallions take big lead, hang on for win
Madera South’s Gilbert Moisa reaches down to hit a two-run second inning single during Wednesday’s 15-10 victory over Selma in the Central Section playoffs. The Madera South Stallions baseball team jumped out to an early 14-1 lead in its Div. IV first round Central Section playoff contest against Selma. However, they had to withstand eight late inning runs to record a 15-10 victory.

Coyotes hang on for playoff win over Arroyo Grande
The Madera Coyotes softball team seemed to be cruising along by taking a 6-0 lead into the sixth inning of its Div. II Central Section playoff game against Arroyo Grande. Pitcher Nastasha Griffin carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but ran into a wall. The 13th-seeded Eagles broke the no-hitter with a single and then ripped a two-run home run. Arroyo added three more runs in the inning, two unearned, to cut the lead to 6-5.

Mavtv Televised Vukovich Classic at Madera Speedway This Saturday Night
Madera Speedway honors one of the valley’s greatest racing families with Saturday’s Vukovich Classic. The “Vuky” is led by the Winged Sprints vs. Super Modifieds plus a full card of MAVTV-televised stock car racing with the Lunkerdaddy Pro Late Models and 51FIFTY Jr. Late Models. Vintage racing will also hit the fastest one-third mile in the west with Legends of Kearney Bowl, California Hard Tops, and BCRA Vintage Midgets.
Thomas places third at State Championship, earns All-State honors
(Madera, CA) Ethan Thomas was the lone representative of the Mt. San Antonio College Men's Golf team at the 2023 California Community College Athletic Association State Championship held at Dragonfly Golf Club in Madera on Sunday and Monday, May 14-15. Thomas represented well with a two-round 140 on the par-73 course, tying for third in the individual competition and earning him All-State status. On the second day of play, Thomas carded a six-under-par 67, tying the tournament's single-round low score attained by three others—Reedley College's Elias Pettersson, Napa Valley College's A.J. Tomasini, and Reedley's Chase Bird.
