The Caledonia Area Warriors softball squad won three games in the last week of its regular season to end with an 18-2 record, locking up the No. 2 seed for the section tournament. On Tuesday, May 14 the Lady Warriors beat Winona Cotter by score 12-1 for some redemption for their season opener. Caledonia/Spring Grove track traveled to the Chatfield Invite on Thursday, May 16. With a strong showing across the board, the track team is poised to do well at the sub-section tournament — in more than a few events. The boys took third with 118 points. The Caledonia Warriors baseball squad finished out its regular season with wins against both Winona Cotter and Lewiston-Altura to finish the season with a 19-1 record on a 19-game win streak, earning the No. 1 seed in the section tournament. Golf: Falcons Teams Stay Perfect as Boys Edge Lancers By One Stroke. The boys golf matchup of La Crescent/Hokah (6-0, 6-0) and Fillmore Central (5-0, 6-0) was key to the TRC-East race. Twelve golfers took to Harmony Golf Course. The worst score was a respectable 45. FC got a season-low round from frosh tri-medalist Brody Srsen (37). Brock Sikkink (38) and Anthony Kiehne (39) also shot sub-40. Josh Haugerud chipped in a 41 which gave FC a 155. Lancer tri-medalists Ryan Nutter and Wyatt Krzoska (37’s) plus Wyatt Ferrell (40) and Tobias Sajdok (42) combined for a 156, giving FC the one-shot win! FC’s Aiden Arnold (42) and Luke Hellickson (44) shot good non-team-scoring rounds. Both teams shot season-low TRC rounds. FC’s girls kept up their dominant year with 190 to 235 victory. Lily Miller medaled with a 45. Myleigh Scheevel (47), Aubrey Larson (48), Annika Mensink (50), and Ella Dahly (50) followed. FC’s boys then beat R-P 163 to 174. Trojan Jaxson Meldahl (38) was the medalist. FC had the next four; Arnold and Sikkink (40’s), Srsen (41) and Hellickson (42). Trojans Will LaFleur (44), Gus Hoiland (45), Sam LaFleur (47), Kellen Drinkall (47), and Carter Kopperud (49) came next. Falcons Kiehne (49) and Haugerud (51) were the last two. FC’s girls cruised 188 to 242. The Falcons had the top five; Scheevel (45), Larson (47), Miller (48), Mensink (48), and Dahly (53). Both Falcons teams improved to 7-0, 8-0. Both lead the TRC-East with two matches left. R-P’s boys fell to 3-4, 3-4.
Baseball Game Recap: Wabasha-Kellogg Gets the Win
Wabasha-Kellogg had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Houston Hurricanes on Friday and snuck past 4-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wabasha-Kellogg also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2022.
