SLEDGE, Miss. - A man was hit and killed by a train in Mississippi Wednesday night, according to the Quitman County Sheriff's Office. The crash happened around 9 p.m. in Sledge, Mississippi on May 15, the sheriff's office said. Sledge is just over an hour south of Memphis with a population less than 500 people.

Quitman County man sentenced after threatening mail carrier
OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) – A Quitman County man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for threatening a mail carrier. Henry Weaver, 47, of Sledge, received the sentence on Tuesday following his conviction back in February for threatening a mail carrier with a dangerous weapon in Marks, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office.
