Arnold opens spring practice, first time on the field under coach Griffin
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Teams across our area and across the State are once again on the high school football practice field. Monday the first day teams could begin spring practice, and the Arnold Marlins among those putting on the helmets and workout out Monday. The state allows for each team to get in 20 workouts over the next few weeks, that includes the chance to play in a spring game or jamboree. Arnold one of the programs that finds itself under new leadership this spring. Jason Griffin hired to replace Shawn Campbell following the Marlins winless season. Griffin led Bozeman to its best season ever in 2023, ten and oh in the regular season, then two more playoff wins. Coach Griffin beaming with excitement when we spoke with him early in Monday’s practice. “Man, incredibly excited! You know we’ve been here a couple of months now, haven’t been here very long. There is a lot of excitement about what Arnold Football is going to be. To be able to get a bunch of guys geared up, I think we have about 80+ guys geared up here today. Hopefully we’re going to make some progress pretty quickly and find out just who we are. The priority is getting kids out here today, getting out here and getting going. We’re still a couple of coaches short. I’ve got probably the best offensive line coach in the state of Florida, he’s still coming in in Trey Pettis. We’re still waiting on another coach that is coming with me. So we’re still a little shorthanded on the coaching staff. But just being able to get these guys out here and start playing football and start finding our direction is the thing I’m most excited about and what our biggest priority is.”
