New Jersey ER waits rank eighth longest nationwide

New Jersey's average emergency department wait is 3 hours and 6 minutes−15% above the national average and the eighth longest among states, according to a study by care management company Hera . Using Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services data, Hera found that national emergency department wait times nationwide average 2 hours and 42 minutes. According the study, 2% of New Jersey residents leave the emergency department without being seen−a concern particularly for those with serious health issues. “For a healthy 30-year-old, three hours in the ER is frustrating,” Hera CEO and Co-Founder Jenny Lee said in a press release. “For an 85-year-old with dementia, frailty, or several chronic conditions, three hours can be destabilizing.” Emergency department wait times Average South Jersey emergency department wait times: Atlantic County: 2 hours and 41 minutes. 3 New York nursing homes ranked among nation's best for 2027

Three New York nursing homes have ranked among the best in the nation, according to Newsweek's annual rankings. NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility topped the list in the large-facility category, while two other New York facilities ranked first in their respective size categories in America's Best Nursing Homes 2027 . The list features 1,325 nursing homes nationwide and is intended to help older adults and their families evaluate long-term care options, according to Newsweek . The publication said it selected facilities based on performance data, recommendations from medical professionals, accreditations and resident satisfaction. Here are the New York facilities that ranked first in the large, mid-sized and small categories. NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility , on Madison Street on Manhattan's Lower East Side, topped the large-facility category, which includes nursing homes with more than 150 beds, according to Newsweek. A New Jersey-based medical group has presided over $950 million in shady Medicaid billing for home health care and adult day care services, an investigation by The Post reveals. One operation owned by Honor Health Network, the Broadway Respite and Home Care in Fair Lawn, has billed a staggering $157 million from Medicaid from 89,000 unique patients across a six-year period, according to federal spending data. This despite the entire county only having roughly 20,000 elderly Medicaid recipients, according to data from Georgetown University.
