Five schools. $355 million. A consultant's report telling Milwaukee what everybody in this city already knows. This is not a moment for another committee meeting where the board nods along to a slide deck and waits for permission to act. Humans of Homestead: Paress Love
Paress Love, senior, feels that coming to Homestead High School became a life-changing experience the moment a teacher, Mrs. Katie Ruff, showed her what it truly means to be cared for and to be shown genuineness. In a huge school like Homestead, it is easy for students to often feel overwhelmed or even out of place, where everyone is moving in their own lanes or have their own group of friends. Love found a meaningful connection with her teacher. “Mrs.Ruff changed the way I viewed and felt because she made me feel that she cares about me,” Love said. Love highlights that having a teacher who actually cares makes a difference, especially in a huge school like Homestead, where it is easy to feel lost or out of place. Mrs.Ruff created a place where Love feels supported and cared about, showing that a teacher’s genuineness can impact and change a person’s experience.
