Milpitas, California - Early Wednesday morning, two Milpitas neighborhoods got a mountain lion visit, and it was all caught on camera. At 2a.m.,, a mountain lion was spotted on a security camera in the Milpitas Friendly Village Mobile Home Park. It popped up on the homeowner's cell phone while he was working, and he showed it to a friend.

Cupertino’s largest-ever housing project nears construction start
Construction preparation is expected to begin this summer on Cupertino’s largest-ever housing project at the site of the old Vallco Shopping Mall. The Rise, a mixed-use housing project, will include shops, offices and 2,400 residential spaces, with half reserved for affordable units. The project was green-lit by the City Council in February and will be built on the 50-acre former mall site at the corner of North Wolfe Road and Stevens Creek Boulevard near Interstate 280.
State cuts will hurt Santa Clara County domestic violence services
Santa Clara County residents fleeing domestic violence may have a harder time finding safety come July. Due to a slashing of federal funding for crime victims, Gov. Gavin Newsom has proposed a nearly 45% reduction in money to crime victim services in the state. These cuts could mean the shuttering of domestic violence shelters, longer wait times for crisis hotline assistance and services like counseling, staff layoffs and as many as 19,200 unmet requests for shelter, according to the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence.
