ELSMERE, Ky. — More than 60 new jobs are coming to Northern Kentucky as Niagara Bottling officially opens its new $141 million manufacturing facility in Elsmere. Gov. Andy Beshear joined local and regional leaders for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the 436,000-square-foot facility, which marks the company's first location in Kentucky.

Area gas prices rise along with crude oil prices

How a Kentucky creator turned a hobby into a new Mall St. Matthews store
When her last semester of college moved online because of the pandemic, Kara Holbrook found herself with extra time to lean into her creative side. From the floor of her apartment, she started making polymer clay earrings as a hobby, but after posting some pictures of her handiwork on Facebook, orders poured in. “Next thing I knew, I had people ordering earrings from all over the U.S., like this is crazy, but I want to ride this wave,” Holbrook recalled. The eastern Kentucky native was soon running her own website to help facilitate orders, and a newly created TikTok account, where she showed the earring making and order packaging process, took off. Her business, Beanstalk , was born, years before it would become a brick-and-mortar shop at Fayette Mall in Lexington in 2025 and, as of mid-October, a shop at Mall St. Matthews in Louisville. Grocery store giant Kroger is planning to cut thousands over jobs over the coming years. The company, which has about 100 stores across Kentucky, plans to slash 3,000 corporate jobs over the next three years, according to an internal memo by CEO Greg Foran obtained by The Cincinnati Enquirer, part of USA Today Co . The multi-state grocery chain headquartered in Cincinnati plans to eliminate more than a third of its roughly 8,200 corporate staff, according to The Enquirer. "Our business is becoming leaner, more focused and more competitive," CEO Greg Foran wrote in the Oct. 12 memo to employees. "This transformation will also result in fewer roles across the company, which means we will reduce our corporate workforce across many functions."
