Search for Missing 23-Year-Old Hiker at Longs Peak, CO
A 23-year-old Colorado man has been reported missing on Monday, May 13. Lucas Macaj of Colorado Springs, Colorado, did not return from a hike to Longs Peak on Sunday, May 12. He was last heard from at around 1 p.m. on Sunday, when he texted a friend indicating that he was on the summit of Longs Peak. Significant storms moved through high elevations in the park Sunday afternoon.

North Carolina golfer wins big on a lottery ticket, says ‘I’m going to get a new set of irons’
A North Carolina man has already made plans for part of the large cash prize he won on a scratchers lottery ticket. “I’m going to get a new set of irons,” Jack Romans Jr. of Calabash, North Carolina, told WECT-TV. Romans bought a scratch-off ticket at a convenience store during the North Carolina Education Lottery’s $2,000,000 Diamond Deluxe campaign. “I guess I was just in the right place at the right time,” Romans said. “It’s my birthday in a week. This is a nice early birthday present.” Romans won one of the five $100,000 prizes and claimed it on Friday. His take-home amount was $71,506 after paying federal and state taxes. He did say he also planned to pay some bills with his winnings. The lottery has three $2 million prizes in the scratchers game as well.
Seniors write letters to deployed troops for Military Appreciation Month

Senior Helpers of Myrtle Beach invited local seniors and veterans to share their appreciation, stories and words of wisdom with those currently serving. Vereen Pleads in 2019 Carnivore Case
One of the suspects arrested in a 2019 felony sweep in Columbus County pleaded guilty Friday in Superior Court. Joshua Vereen entered a plea of guilty to charges of being a habitual felon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to 117 to 153 months in prison, or nine to twelve years behind bars. Judge Tiffany Powers handed down the sentence.
