World’s Strongest Man prepares for second year in Myrtle Beach
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The World’s Strongest Man Competition is returning to Myrtle Beach next week for the second straight year. The event drew in 30,000 fans from all over the world last year - but organizers said while it was great to have a big crowd, it made it difficult for everyone to get a good view.
Coastal Carolina athletic director Hogue, ex-football coach Moglia changing roles
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Coastal Carolina’s Matt Hogue, in charge of the athletic department for the past 10 years, will move to a new role at the school this summer while former football coach Joe Moglia will give up his positions as chairman of athletics and executive director of football once the new athletic director is hired. The school announced Friday that Hogue will lead the school’s development of a center for sports broadcasting. His last day with athletics will be July 15. Coastal Carolina said in a statement a search for Hogue’s successor as vice president for intercollegiate athletics and university recreation will begin immediately. Moglia has served in his roles since retiring as football coach after the 2018 season. He will remain as executive advisor to Coastal Carolina president Michael T. Benson.
Coastal defeated in the series finale versus Troy on Sunday
CONWAY, S.C. – The No. 13 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers were beaten by Troy, 15-3 in seven innings on Sunday afternoon in the series finale of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series at Springs Brooks Stadium as the Trojans completed the sweep. The Chants dropped their fifth straight game, the first time they have lost five straight since the 2014 season.

Former FedEx Cup, PGA Tour winners join Myrtle Beach Classic field
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Three more players are joining the field for the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic. Tournament officials announced Friday that Brandt Snedeker, Jhonattan Vegas and Joel Dahmen will play at next month’s event at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. The three join Cameron Champ, Daniel Berger and Charley Hoffman - who were announced on Thursday.
Chants Drop Series Opener to the Trojans 8-6
CONWAY, S.C. – The No. 13 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers dropped the series opener 8-6 to the Troy Trojans in Sun Belt Conference action in Conway, S.C., on Friday night. With the loss, the Chanticleers fall to 27-15 overall and 11-8 in league play, while the Trojans improve to 29-14 on the year and 12-7 in conference action.

Creighton second baseman Kyle Hess stepped to the plate in the bottom of the tenth with the winning run on second. The shift was on, as the second baseman played will into the outfield.
