Neighborhood becomes hazmat scene due to sludge in drinking water
The tanks that hold drinking water for nearly 140 residents in the Prairie View Ranch Water District are full of sludge that is so toxic that Colorado's Water Quality Control Division has now brought in hazmat crews to dig them up and clean them out. "I don't know how else to explain how this could have happened. Brush High School Mikaela Thiel signs scholarship paperwork
Mikaela Thiel, a talented young athlete from Brush High School, recently signed her scholarship papers to attend SUNY Maritime College, located just outside the Bronx. Thiel will study International Transportation and Trade while playing volleyball. She chose this major because it allows her to travel and pursue a career in business and finance. The signing ceremony took place at the Brush High School on Tuesday, where family, friends, and volleyball coaches gathered to celebrate her achievement.
City of Brush honors area services at Monday meeting
At the Brush City Council meeting held on Monday, the council members read several proclamations to honor services in their town. May 4 was designated International Firefighters Day to honor firefighters’ countless hours and time away from their families to take ultimate risks to serve their communities. Firefighters were recognized for their time when leaving their families and jobs to answer calls to respond to emergencies involving life, property, or environment and fight together against an enemy that can quickly destroy lives. On Wednesday, the Brush Chamber of Commerce officially welcomed Vero to town as a new member with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Sands Theatre. CEO Sunita Krishna and VP of Operations at Glass Roots Construction Nano Eshaqzai (Vero’s sister construction company) used the “big” scissors to cut the ribbon, making it official.
