    Girls soccer: United almost gets a win; Lodi falls to Lakeside Lutheran

    The Portage/Poynette girls’ soccer team had a chance at a first win in 2024.

    United (0-8 overall, 0-3 in Badger Small Conference play) led 2-1 at Berlin on Friday after the game’s first seven minutes but allowed a goal in the 31st minute and another in the 62nd minute in a 3-2 loss.

    Anna Weisbrot and Lyla Brown scored goals for United, while Josie Gallegos made six saves in net for Portage/Poynette.

    On Tuesday, April 23, Edgewood scored seven runs in the first half en route to an 11-0 win over United, as Abigail Sanderson and Waisbrot combined for six saves.

    Two days later, Mauston blanked United 2-0, scoring once in the 11th minute and again in the 61st minute. Sofia Aguilar made four saves, while Gallegos had one.

    On Monday, April 29, Mount Horeb tallied nine goals in the first half, before finishing with a 12-0 victory. Gallegos finished with 13 saves.

    LodiTwo goals in the first 21 minutes lifted Lakeside Lutheran to a 2-0 win over the Blue Devils on Tuesday, April 23.

    Lodi finished with six shots on goal, as Quetzal Peterson finished with six saves in goal for the Blue Devils (4-3 overall, 1-1 in Capitol Conference play).

    Lake Mills 3, Lodi 0Sophomore Mollie Cooper scored two of Lake Mills’ three second-half goals in a 3-0 road Capitol Conference victory against Lodi on Tuesday.

    Cooper broke a scoreless tie with an unassisted goal in the 45th minute, the first of three scores in a 13-minute span. Junior Addie Ninneman’s penalty kick in the 48th minute doubled the L-Cats’ lead before Cooper again scored unassisted, this time in the 58th minute.

    Freshman Milan Fullerton stopped four shots in her clean sheet for Lake Mills (10-2, 3-1 in conference).
