New soccer park in Gulfton opens to community
As FIFA World Cup matches get underway in Houston, one neighborhood is already benefiting from the global spotlight.
The new Visa Street Soccer Park is now open in Gulfton, featuring two professional-grade mini soccer pitches. The two mini-turf fields are free and open to the community to use.
Houston reVision, a non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk youth, will manage the park's operations and host clinics, tournaments and coaching/referee training.
"There's nothing like this in Houston," said Charles Rotramel, CEO of Houston reVision. "This facility is very unique in the sense that its open to the public. It's here for the community. It's built on a very specific footprint that came from Germany."
ABC13's Localish team visited Visa Street Soccer Park to see how the park is shaping young lives, both on and off the field.

Tropical Storm Rachel Expected to Impact Southern California and Surrounding States | Complex Setup
Once again, the setup remains to be very complex, so it is no surprise that the track remains difficult to pin down with now almost two areas of shift possible. A cutoff low, an upper level trough, and what remains of Rachel all have to interact, with their timing and positioning playing a major role in how this unfolds. Even small changes could shift where the deepest moisture moves, where the lifting mechanism is, where thunderstorms develop, and which areas receive the heaviest rainfall. That is why individual model runs can show noticeably different outcomes. Confidence should improve as these features evolve, but the exact track and rainfall totals still have room to change still.
