By Ruth Alcivar,

A bigger campus is only the beginning . Now, a McKinney nonprofit is working to make sure more families can benefit from it. ManeGait raised a record-breaking $1.34 million during its 19th annual Gala at the 'Gait on Oct. 17, bringing more than 950 supporters together to help the organization expand its equine-assisted services for children, adults and veterans with disabilities. The fundraiser comes just months after ManeGait reached its $13.2 million fundraising goal for The Beacon Project, a major campus expansion designed to double its capacity. Now, the nonprofit is shifting its focus from building new facilities to expanding the programs and resources needed to serve more people. From Campus Expansion To More Services After two years of hosting the gala off-site, ManeGait welcomed guests back to its newly expanded 24-acre McKinney campus. Attendees toured the new Stephens Greth Foundation Stable, saw the administration and therapy center and experienced the facilities made possible through the organization's multiyear expansion effort. The project, as previously covered by Local Profile , includes additional facilities designed to accommodate more riders and horses. But the need for services continues to grow. According to ManeGait, more than 500 individuals are currently on its waitlist. The

I Forgot How Good the Spaghetti We Grew Up With Was

Not every spaghetti dinner needs a sauce that simmered since sunrise or a list of ingredients long enough to cover the refrigerator. Sometimes you want the familiar version: ground beef browned until savory, tomato sauce bubbling in the pan, and a big tangle of hot spaghetti ready to catch every bit of it. It’s the kind of dinner many of us remember from crowded weeknight tables, where somebody passed the Parmesan, garlic bread disappeared immediately, and nobody cared whether the sauce had a fancy Italian name. It just tasted like dinner was supposed to taste.

This Three-Ingredient Chicken Tastes Like a Church Supper Classic

Some recipes earn their place in community cookbooks because they are dependable, affordable, and capable of feeding hungry people without exhausting the cook. This three-ingredient church supper chicken fits that tradition perfectly. The chicken bakes beneath a flavorful coating that helps keep the meat juicy while creating the kind of warm, comforting aroma associated with fellowship halls and Sunday dinners. There are no complicated marinades, hard-to-find seasonings, or multiple pans competing for counter space. Three ingredients go into the dish, and the oven turns them into a family-friendly meal that tastes much more involved. The finished chicken is tender, savory, and ready to share the plate with nearly any traditional side already planned.

These Blueberry Jars May Be the Smartest Thing in Your Refrigerator

A warm baked breakfast feels comforting, but making it in individual jars turns that comfort into something unusually practical. These blueberry breakfast jars combine juicy fruit with a soft, satisfying baked base, creating ready-made portions that look attractive and travel more easily than an entire casserole. The berries soften and release their sweetness as they bake, leaving colorful pockets throughout every jar. Because each serving cooks separately, everyone gets a fair share of the golden top and tender center rather than competing for the best corner of the pan. The clear jars show off the layers and blueberries, making a simple breakfast feel thoughtfully prepared. They are cozy enough for a slow weekend morning but organized enough to help on the weekdays when breakfast needs to be found, heated, and eaten before anyone is fully awake.

Taco Night Just Found the Easiest Pan in the Kitchen

Taco night usually involves several skillets, bowls of toppings, and individual shells that cool while everyone builds dinner. Sheet-pan tacos gather seasoned meat, cheese, and shells into one oven-ready arrangement that feeds the table at once. As they bake, the shells become crisp and the cheese melts around the filling, creating tacos that hold together better than versions assembled one at a time. Every serving reaches the table hot, and the cook does not spend the meal standing near the stove. The result keeps the crunchy, cheesy satisfaction people expect while turning taco night into a low-effort dinner that behaves more like a casserole.

Fresh from the pan, they have the rustic texture that makes traditional recipes endure.
