Yes, it’s the formulaic beginning of an old bar joke. Still, there was nothing funny about the shellacking the GOP took from these senatorial candidates on November 3 at the midterm elections. These winners, with overwhelming margins, were Abdul El-Sayed (Michigan Senate), Rev. Adam Hamilton (Kansas Senate), Peggy Flanagan (Minnesota Senate), and James Talarico (Texas Senate), all of whom resoundingly beat their Republican opponents, compounding the generational ending of the MAGA sphere.

You only have to watch any media feed to know this was an historic election that will reverberate worldwide for years to come.

While we were interested in all the national and local election results, at Local News Pasadena we focused this year on tracking the San Gabriel City Council election, which had three at-large vacancies. We interviewed four of the five candidates and did a follow-up article. The candidate we did not interview, Wendy Wang, provided a written statement, which we published in the article’s comments section.

As of 5:00 pm tonight, November 4, the LA County Registration-Recorder/County Clerk’s office has released the following totals regarding this local San Gabriel election.

  1. John Wu                                             25.83%                  3977
  2. Denise Menchaca                             23.54%                 3624
  3. Wendy Wang                                      22.18%                 3415
  4. Eric L. Chan                                        18.72%                 2882
  5. Jordan Guzman                                   9.72%                 1496

We’ll keep monitoring for updates and let you know if anything changes.

You can track the entire election results at the Clerk’s website.
