25 years after 9/11, a San Gabriel family remembers the sister they lost on Flight 77

Every year since September 11, 2001, families around the world have paused to honor loved ones who were killed on that day in the deadliest attack on American soil.
Among those who will never forget are John Menchaca and his wife Denise, a San Gabriel city councilmember and former mayor. John’s sister, Dr. Dora Menchaca, was a passenger on American Airlines Flight 77 when hijackers flew the plane into the Pentagon that morning.
Dora was by all accounts, a brilliant epidemiologist who was working on a cure for cancer. The Santa Monica resident was also a devoted family member who left behind a husband and two young children.
Local News Pasadena correspondent, Saida Pagán, sat down for an in-depth, on-camera interview with the Menchaca family, who spoke candidly about their thoughts and feelings on this 25th anniversary of 9/11.
