Clinton State of the City: Optimism about investments

Clinton mayor Scott Maddasion expressed optimism about investments in the local economy during his State of the City speech.

Maddasion referred to the Atlas Roofing project specficially. The facility should be operational early in 2027. The roofing company plans to bring 150 jobs to Clinton with the $224 million investment.

Maddasion also talked about the new good neighbor lot aquisition program intended to fill empty lots in the city.

Conagra Brands has stopped making Celeste frozen pizzas, ending production of the longtime grocery staple also known as Mama Celeste. The company will sell its remaining inventory, but once those pizzas are gone, there will be no more products.

IRS Is Already Sending Surprise Tax Refunds to More Than 50,000 Americans -- Here's Who Qualifies

Some adoptive families could receive an additional tax refund this fall without filing another return. The IRS announced on October 16 that it had begun issuing refunds to more than 50,000 taxpayers affected by a change in how unused adoption tax credits are treated. Adjustments started in late September, and the agency expects to finish processing most eligible taxpayers by the end of 2026.
