A barbecue spot held a ribbon-cutting Friday in downtown Moline.

Fatwoods Barbeque Smokehouse celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting on Friday afternoon. The restaurant is owned by Collin Ammerman, who specializes in smoked meats like ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken.

"We want to make what we do really good," Ammerman said. "Our menu is not huge. We have 13 items and we just want to specialize in those items, so when people are out and about bar hopping, or trying to get a drink and some food before before a game, they can have something different. The Quad Cities has been lacking in this area for quite some time.:'

The name carries a special meaning: The spot is named after Ammerman's late friend, Foster Atwood. Fatwoods is on Fifth Avenue in Moline.

Hours are 4-8 p.m. Thursdays, noon-8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and noon-6 p.m. Sundays. (Hours may vary if food sells out early.)
