Clinton police chief taking new role with city
By Sharon Wren,
1 days agoThe chief of police for the City of Clinton is transitioning into a new role with the city. Kevin Gyrion had been serving as the interim city administrator since July 2026. He explained his move into the city administrator role in an emailed statement.
“Dear Mayor, City Council Members, Members of the Police Department and Citizens of Clinton, it is with mixed emotions that I submit my resignation as chief of police for the City of Clinton. Last evening, I was honored to be appointed as the city administrator for the City of Clinton. As I prepare to begin this new role, I do so knowing that it is time to hang up the badge after nearly 40 years in law enforcement.
“Serving as your police chief has been one of the greatest privileges and joys of my life. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work alongside dedicated officers, public servants and community members who have continually inspired me through their commitment, professionalism and support.
“Together, we have faced challenges, celebrated successes and worked tirelessly to make our community a safer place for all. I am profoundly grateful for the trust you placed in me and for the relationships that have been built along the way. The men and women of this department have my deepest respect and admiration. Their dedication to serving others is a testament to the strength and character of this organization.
“While I leave behind the position of police chief, my commitment to the City of Clinton remains unchanged. I look forward to serving our community in my new capacity as city administrator and continuing to work toward a strong and prosperous future for our city.
Although the badge may be retired, I will always value the friendships, memories, and lessons gained throughout this journey. And should any of you ever need a bit of advice from an old lawman, please know that I will always be available.
“Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving as your chief of police. It has been a privilege beyond measure.”
