Iowa to vote on process of income tax increases
By Brian Weckerly,
18 hours agoIowans will vote November 3 on whether to make income tax increases harder to pass.
If passed, Amendment 1 would require a two-thirds supermajority in both chambers, up from a simple majority now. An Iowa state researcher says other states have seen mixed results, making the impact on Iowa's economy difficult to predict, saying there's little evidence the change would boost economic growth, and it could have unintended consequences.
Iowa introduced its flat 3.8% income tax rate last year.
