Iowa Senate candidate Josh Turek brings campaign to Davenport
By Linda CookHami Arain,
5 hours agoIowa Senate candidate Josh Turek brought his "At the Buzzer" campaign to the Quad Cities on Saturday, when he met with vendors at the Freight House Farmers Market.
He told Our Quad Cities News that the cost of living and corruption are two of the biggest issues he's seeing across the state. Turek also said he believes the two issues are related, and says an end to the war in Iran could start bringing down costs.
"We've got to end these chaotic tariffs, because it's driving up the cost of groceries," he said. "It is leading to a decimation of markets and commodities and prices for farmers. We lead the nation in farm foreclosures. Now, you've got farm suicide rates skyrocketing. There's so much that we need to do. People are hurting, and struggling," he said. "They deserve to have someone who's going up to fight for them."
Turek says he wants to drive private equity out of housing and bring back ACA subsidies to help with health-care costs.

The One Crispy Apple I'm Choosing Over Honeycrisp Right Now
Learn about an apple variety that is super crisp and firm that I am getting at apple orchards over Honeycrisp this month. It took a long time from when the Crimson Crisp apple was first bred until it was available to be grown commercially. It was first developed in the 1970s by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, and Illnois) co-operative. It wasn't until 2006 that the apple was released for growers. That is a long time in the development process. You don't get rich quick by developing a new apple variety!
