Traffic pattern will change on two Muscatine city streets
By Linda Cook,
1 days agoTraffic on two Muscatine streets will be restricted to one-way travel beginning Friday, Oct. 16, as part of a two-week pilot project approved by the City of Muscatine Traffic Committee, a news release says.
The Department of Public Works (DPW) will install signs designating one-way traffic on:
- Lord Avenue, from Park Avenue to Fairview Avenue.
- Fairview Avenue, from Lord Avenue to East 4th Street.
The change is intended to address concerns about tight-turning movements at the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Lord Avenue. Residents in the neighborhood brought the issue to the Traffic Committee and requested a traffic pattern change to improve safety and maneuverability.
During the two-week trial period, Do Not Enter and One-Way signs will be installed using portable bases. Following the evaluation period, the Traffic Committee will review the results and determine whether to recommend making the change permanent. Any permanent modification would require approval by the Muscatine City Council.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution while adjusting to the new traffic pattern and to obey all posted traffic control devices, the release says.

The One Crispy Apple I'm Choosing Over Honeycrisp Right Now
Learn about an apple variety that is super crisp and firm that I am getting at apple orchards over Honeycrisp this month. It took a long time from when the Crimson Crisp apple was first bred until it was available to be grown commercially. It was first developed in the 1970s by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, and Illnois) co-operative. It wasn't until 2006 that the apple was released for growers. That is a long time in the development process. You don't get rich quick by developing a new apple variety!
