Davenport man sentenced to federal prison for possession of a firearm as a felon

A Davenport man was sentenced on October 8, 2026, to five years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon.
Public court documents and evidence presented at sentencing show that Terry Lee Chance, Jr., 33, was in possession of a .40 caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number as he drove through Davenport. Davenport Police Officers performed a traffic stop on the vehicle Chance drove and recovered the pistol.
Chance will be required to serve a three-year term of supervised release after his prison term is completed. There is no parole in the federal system. United States Attorney David C. Waterman of the Southern District of Iowa announced the decision and the Davenport Police Department investigated the case.
