By Sharon Wren,
1 days agoPolice in Moline have made an arrest in connection with burglary and damage at The Grinders & Spaghetti House on Oct. 2.
A news release from the department said officers responded to Grinders after employees found significant damage to commercial heating and air conditioning units on the roof of the business. Investigators determined copper and HVAC components had been removed from the units during the overnight hours.
Detectives reviewed surveillance videos from Grinders and other locations in the area during the investigation. They identified a suspect vehicle in the area at the time of the burglary and later identified Chad Michael McDermott, 47 of Davenport, as a suspect through additional surveillance footage and scrap metal records.
The Rock Island County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the investigation on Oct. 7 and filed charges against McDermott, including burglary, a class 2 felony, and criminal damage to property, a class 3 felony. McDermott is currently being held in the Scott County Jail in Davenport on unrelated charges. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Moline Police Department at 309-797-0401.
