Eldridge announces buyer for community center

By Sharon Wren,

Eldridge has a buyer for its community center.

The Eldridge City Council announced at its meeting on Oct. 5 that KGRD Green Bay LLC, a business and real estate group, made an offer to buy the community center for $1,325,000. A motion was made to accept the offer, which was seconded and carried. A second motion was made to allow Mayor Scott Campbell to sign the offer. That motion was also seconded and carried.

Councilmember Jeff Ashcraft noted that while there was an offer that was accepted, the sale would not be official for 60 days to allow for a due diligence period and so the buyers can inspect the facility.

I wanted to find out where Walmart's beef comes from, so I visited a Walmart store in Oregon to see what information I could find in the beef department and the packaging. Earlier this week, I published an article on NewsBreak sharing about where Kroger has been sourcing its beef from - Where Kroger Is Getting Its Beef From Right Now - Here's What to Know. I have been wondering where other grocery stores are sourcing their meat from as well. So I went into a Walmart store in Oregon this morning to see what I could find.

This Root Was Used for Low Energy Before Energy Drinks Existed

Ginseng has been used for centuries as an energy tonic, long before energy drinks and their jittery caffeine crash ever existed. It's earned the nickname "King of Herbs" in traditional Chinese medicine, and modern research has actually backed up much of what traditional herbalists have known all along. I keep it on hand for those genuinely draining, low-energy weeks. 😊

Granny’s Million Dollar Pie Is the No-Bake Dessert Everyone Remembers

Granny’s Million Dollar Pie is cool, creamy, fruity, and filled with the kind of familiar flavors that turn a simple dessert into a family tradition. Sweetened condensed milk and lemon juice form the rich base, while crushed pineapple, coconut, and chopped pecans add brightness, chew, and crunch. Whipped topping makes the filling light and airy before it is divided between two graham cracker crusts. There is no baking required; the pies simply chill until firm enough to slice, making this an exceptionally easy dessert when the oven is already occupied.

Skillet-Fried Cornbread Delivers Crispy Southern Comfort Fast

Spoonfuls of cornmeal batter fry in a hot skillet until their exteriors become deeply golden and crisp while the centers remain tender and moist. Buttermilk, egg, melted butter, flour, baking powder, and a touch of sugar create a thick batter that cooks much like a small pancake. Depending on where they are served, these comforting rounds may be called fried cornbread, hoecakes, Johnny cakes, or cornmeal fritters, but their ability to complete a Southern meal remains the same.

Four-Ingredient Southern Hoecakes Bring Serious Crispy Edges

Southern hoecakes turn four simple ingredients into golden cornmeal rounds with crisp edges and tender centers. Cooked in a hot skillet, they develop the satisfying exterior of fried cornbread while staying soft enough inside to absorb butter, syrup, gravy, or pot liquor. The short ingredient list reflects their traditional roots, but the texture keeps them just as appealing on a modern table.
