Two Davenport homes renovated for refugee families

Two properties in Davenport went under major renovations and will house local refugees.
The homes were owned by the Foundation of First Presbyterian Church and were to be demolished after suffering fire damage a few years ago, but a collaboration between the foundation, Tapestry Farms and Falcon Contracting turned the houses into affordable homes for two refugee families. The hope is that the project can set a new precedent for affordable housing. The properties are now home to two families, one from Sudan and one from Afghanistan.
Private and public donors funded the project.

Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts in Brockton has shared an urgent, hopeful plea for two tiny brothers who have already endured more than most dogs should. In a recent post, the shelter introduced Tico and Rocky, 1-year-old Chihuahua siblings searching for what the organization describes as a “very special home”, one willing to welcome them together and give them the time and gentleness they need to feel safe.

Baby Jane Doe was found abandoned in Washington, D.C., on March 20, 1998. She would now be 28, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). As of today, seven missing children from Washington, D.C. are listed with the NCMEC, and the oldest case dates back to 1961. Notably, not all missing children are reported to the NCMEC, but they should be.
