Bettendorf marking Healthiest State Walk with Kiwanis Park events

Thousands of Iowans will take a 30 minute walk in three weeks to promote a statewide initiative about being active and connecting with the community.

Residents can visit Kiwanis Park, 4223 Greenbrier Drive in Bettendorf, on October 7 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m., where the city’s Parks & Recreation Department is hosting an event for the 16th Annual Healthiest State Walk, part of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative.

Participants can walk the trails during the event and enjoy several special features along the way:

• Check inside some Bettendorf Public Works and Parks Maintenance vehicles

• Visit with Bettendorf Police officers and firefighters

• Play games with the Bettendorf Parks & Recreation Department, Bettendorf Public Library, and the Family Museum

• Try the new futsal court

• Read a book while walking on the StoryWalk

• See renderings of our new playground coming soon

“The Healthiest State Walk is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Recreation Superintendent Meredith Fabrizius. “Enjoying the park, having quality time with friends and family, engaging with your community, moving your body – it is such a positive experience all around!”
