Morning transportation changes are coming for Rock Island High School students who live in Milan.

An email from the school said the changes will start on Monday, September 14 and are being made to improve transportation efficiency and on-time arrivals. According to the new schedule:

  • Milan students attending Rock Island High School will ride Route 47 in the morning and afternoon.
  • The morning Route 47 will serve students in the Heather Ridge, Hillcrest and William Young neighborhoods directly to Rock Island High School.
  • Rock Island High School students who ride the Route 41 morning route will still be transported to the high school but will be dropped off at 11th Street and 25th Avenue and will need to walk up the hill to the high school.
  • Edison students who ride this morning route will still be transported to Edison but will be dropped off on the east side of 11th Street and 42nd Avenue and will need to cross 11th Street.
  • In the afternoon, the route previously identified as Route 41 will now be identified as Route 47. There are no changes to the afternoon route itself.

Remember the White Candy That Seemed to Appear in Every Grandma’s Christmas Tin?

Divinity is one of those old-fashioned candies that can instantly bring back a kitchen you haven’t stood in for years. Light, fluffy, and almost cloud-like, it’s nothing like dense fudge or chewy caramel. The outside sets with a delicate finish while the center stays soft and airy, with that unmistakable melt-away sweetness that made it a holiday candy-table favorite. It looks deceptively simple, but anyone who grew up watching a grandmother, aunt, or church-supper expert make a batch probably remembers there was a little technique involved. When it turns out right, those snowy spoonfuls look beautiful piled onto a platter—and somehow taste even better after you’ve spent years wondering why people stopped making them.

This Three-Ingredient Chicken Tastes Like a Church Supper Classic

Some recipes earn their place in community cookbooks because they are dependable, affordable, and capable of feeding hungry people without exhausting the cook. This three-ingredient church supper chicken fits that tradition perfectly. The chicken bakes beneath a flavorful coating that helps keep the meat juicy while creating the kind of warm, comforting aroma associated with fellowship halls and Sunday dinners. There are no complicated marinades, hard-to-find seasonings, or multiple pans competing for counter space. Three ingredients go into the dish, and the oven turns them into a family-friendly meal that tastes much more involved. The finished chicken is tender, savory, and ready to share the plate with nearly any traditional side already planned.

The Soup I Make When a Light Little Bowl Isn’t Going to Count as Dinner

Some soups leave you looking for a sandwich ten minutes later. This creamy sausage soup isn’t interested in being one of them. Savory sausage gives the whole pot a rich, smoky backbone while a velvety broth turns it into the kind of spoon-coating comfort food that feels substantial from the first bowl. Everything comes together in one pot, letting those browned sausage bits and seasonings work their way through the creamy base instead of disappearing down the drain with another dirty pan. Serve it bubbling hot with crusty bread and you’ve got exactly what a cold, tired evening calls for: something creamy, hearty, and satisfying enough that nobody asks what else is for dinner.

This Chicken Penne Has the Sauce Weeknights Were Missing

Tender chicken, sturdy penne, Parmesan, and fresh herbs come together in a creamy sauce that turns an ordinary pasta night into serious comfort food. The penne captures sauce inside every tube while carrying even more across its ridged surface, so each forkful stays rich and flavorful. Seasoned chicken makes the dish substantial enough for dinner, and Parmesan brings savory depth that keeps the creaminess from tasting flat. Fresh herbs add color and a brighter finish, preventing the bowl from becoming overwhelmingly heavy. It is familiar enough to satisfy picky eaters but polished enough to serve when company arrives unexpectedly. Once everything is tossed together, the chicken and pasta feel like one cohesive dish rather than separate ingredients placed beside each other. This is the kind of dinner that earns silence for the first few bites.
