Opening delayed for Aledo’s aquatic center

2 days agoThe new aquatic center in Aledo will open later than anticipated.
Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of September, with the center opening to the public in May 2027.
The $6.4 million center will a pool, a splash pad, locker rooms and concessions. The splash pad, called Bucket Bay, should be done in the next few weeks, with landscaping and other work to follow.
The City of Aledo shared a statement with Our Quad Cities News: "The City of Aledo is disappointed that we were unable to open the new Aquatic Center in time for the 2026 swim season.
"As is typical for capital projects of this scale, we are getting closer to project completion every week, despite some unanticipated delays in the timeline."
"Landscaping and the rest of the project will then follow," the statement concludes. "We look forward to welcoming Aledo and the surrounding area for swimming in May 2027."

The show documents experiences of couples who have applied for a K-1 Visa and are required to wed within 90 days. Catie’s fiancé Josh, 30, is from the UK and intends to move to Portland, Oregon to be with her and begin life in the US. Their screen time on the show has included a variety of locations throughout Alameda, including Swell Bar and Whisk Cakes, as they’ve come here to visit Catie’s family and prepare for their wedding.
