Sterling Police investigate stabbing incident

6 hours agoSterling Police are investigating a stabbing incident outside a Walmart.
According to a release from the Sterling Police Department, officers were dispatched August 28 at approximately 2:15 p.m. to the Walmart on E. Lincolnway for a report of two men fighting outside the business. While en route, officers were notified one of the men had been stabbed. Upon arrival, Sterling officers found a Sterling man, 47, who had suffered several stab wounds. The other man, 31, from Dixon, was still on scene.
Both men involved were transported to CGH Medical Center. The 47-year-old man was later transferred to a Rockford area hospital for further treatment. The 31-year-old man is being treated at CGH Medical Center.
Evidence indicates this was an isolated incident, and there is no further threat to the public. No names are being released at this time. This is still an active investigation, andfuture charges are pending. Sterling Police ask that any witnesses or anyone with information on the incident call 815-632-6640 or Whiteside County Crimestoppers at 815-625-7867.
Sterling Police were assisted by Rock Falls Police, Whiteside County Sheriff, Illinois State Police, Illinois Secretary of State Police, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, CGH EMS and Sterling Fire Department.
