Tickets available for Fall Senior Golf Cart Tour in Bettendorf

The Friends of Bettendorf Parks & Recreation – partners of the Bettendorf Parks & Recreation Department and endorsed by the City of Bettendorf – invite area seniors to participate in their annual Fall Senior Golf Cart Tour on Monday, Sept. 14, a news release says.

There is no rain date.

Held twice a year in the spring and fall, the Fall Senior Golf Cart Tour travels along the Duck Creek Recreation Trail from Palmer Hills Golf Course to Riverdale and back to Palmer Hills. Transportation on the trail will be via golf carts provided by Palmer Hills. These carts may be operated by participants, or operators will be provided for those choosing not to drive themselves. Drivers must be at least 18 years old.

Stops will be made at several sites along the way. The tour will be about two hours round-trip and will depart at 10 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Parking for the tour is available at Palmer Hills Golf Course, 2999 Middle Road.

Registration is required, and tours are limited to 70 people each. Registration for Bettendorf residents is now open, and registration for non-residents begins Wednesday, Aug. 19. To register online, visit here.

For more information or to register by phone, contact the Bettendorf Parks & Recreation Department at 563-344-4113. There is a $10 fee to attend the tour. This helps support the Friends of Bettendorf Parks & Recreation in its ongoing mission to improve recreational opportunities and community life in Bettendorf.

“Your participation not only includes a fun, scenic, and informative outing, it directly contributes to keeping Bettendorf’s parks and recreation programs and parks active, vibrant, and well-cared-for,” said Bettendorf Parks & Recreation Director John Byrnes.

A widening food recall connected to a multistate Salmonella outbreak now covers dips, salsas, guacamole and prepared meals sold by some of America's largest grocery chains. Taylor Fresh Foods announced the voluntary recall on Aug. 9 after learning that jalapeno supplier Coast Citrus Distributors was recalling peppers because of possible Salmonella contamination. The affected jalapenos came from a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, identified as the likely source of an ongoing outbreak.
