Person in custody after suspicious internet search by former Rock Island-Milan student

The Rock Island-Milan School District partnered with the Rock Island Police Department following suspicious online activity by a former student.

According to a release:

The Rock Island-Milan School District leadership team was notified last evening by the Rock Island Police Department that they were investigating a suspicious internet search by a former scholar. Our schools were not under a direct threat at any time, however, out of an abundance of caution, we notified our schools to be extra vigilant this morning. Additionally, the Rock Island Police Department deployed additional support at schools the scholar formerly attended. As of 9:46 am, the individual is in police custody, and there is no threat to any schools.

The district thanked the Rock Island Police Department for its quick response and communication to ensure the safety of students and staff without interrupting instruction.

A Salmonella Recall Now Reaches Walmart, Target, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods

A widening food recall connected to a multistate Salmonella outbreak now covers dips, salsas, guacamole and prepared meals sold by some of America's largest grocery chains. Taylor Fresh Foods announced the voluntary recall on Aug. 9 after learning that jalapeno supplier Coast Citrus Distributors was recalling peppers because of possible Salmonella contamination. The affected jalapenos came from a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, identified as the likely source of an ongoing outbreak.
