QCA man faces Class X felony sexual-assault charges after bi-state investigation

A 53-year-old Morrison man faces Class X felony charges of predatory criminal sexual assault, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police (ISP.)

ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 2 special agents have arrested Brian S. Coers after a bi-state investigation.

In May, ISP opened an investigation after receiving allegations of sexual crimes in Wisconsin and Illinois. Officials identified Coers as a suspect. On Wednesday, Aug. 5, ISP special agents executed a search warrant at his residence on Barden Street in Morrison.

Coers was arrested on a warrant for predatory criminal sexual assault and “additional electronic devices” were collected.

“The devices are pending examination, and additional charges may be forthcoming,” the release says. Coers was being held Wednesday at the Whiteside County Jail for initial charges.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin; Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office; Savanna Police Department; Morrison Police Department; FBI in Madison, Wisconsin; ISP SWAT; ISP Patrol; and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office of Forensics; assisted with the investigation.
