“Dr. Wakefield’s presence expands our surgical team and strengthens access to high-quality surgical care close to home,” said Colton Anderson, MSHA, MBA, Chief Operating Officer. “Together, Dr. Wakefield and Dr. Schrier will enhance our capacity to meet patient needs, reduce wait times, and support the continued growth of our surgical service line. Their combined expertise will also improve continuity of care across primary care, emergency services, and specialty departments, reinforcing our commitment to providing comprehensive, coordinated care for the communities we serve.”

Dr. Wakefield has over 19 years of surgical experience and most recently worked with patients at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. The Hammond-Henry Hospital General Surgical Team’s expertise covers colonoscopy and gastrointestinal procedures, hernia repair, gallstones and gallbladder procedures, appendicitis and acute surgical care, thyroid surgery and biopsy, breast surgery and biopsy, port placements and burn and wound management plus office visits, hospital care and diagnostic imaging.

“I am a general surgeon with a special interest in breast surgery and wound care,” said Dr. Wakefield. “I am looking forward to developing those programs at HHH. I also really enjoy thyroid surgery and will be offering thyroid biopsies and thyroid surgery close to home.”

Dr. Wakefield completed medical school at Rush Medical College in 2007 and finished her residency at the University of Iowa in 2012. Those interested in being placed on her appointment waitlist are encouraged to call 309.944.1595. Prospective patients can self-refer unless their insurance requires them to have a referral. Dr. Wakefield’s office is located in the Specialty Clinic on the Geneseo hospital’s first floor. Specialty Clinic hours are from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
