The LaSalle Lady Tigers #4 fell short of a return trip to Sulphur last Friday, April 19, with a 15-10 loss to French Settlement #5. The visiting Lions did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard, as they laced several hits in the top of the first inning, putting four runs on the board.

It was a storybook ending for Ponchatoula softball senior Sydni Stanga in a Division I nonselect quarterfinals against No. 12 East Ascension on Saturday at home. Stanga, a pitcher and second baseman, stepped to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning with the No. 4 Green Wave team trailing the Spartans 12-10. She crushed a ball on a 2-2 count for an opposite field grand slam to the right-center field gap for a 14-12 win.
Denham Springs ready to host track meet with top athletes
There will be a lot to take in this week for Denham Springs High and its track program. Sure, the Yellow Jackets wanted to see a few more top end placings at last week’s District 5-5A meet but the school will still have quite a presence at Thursday’s Class 5A, Region 2 track meet.
